Dungarpur Bio-Gas Plant

Projects

The project has been completed and uses a wide range of locally generated Biomass (Municipal Solid Waste, Septic waste, Agriculture, industrial residues and animal waste).

Dungarpur is the first city in Rajasthan to declare itself free from Open Defecation. The Nagar Parishad has also freed the city from plastics and has strictly enforced the usage of non-plastic / polythene bags. Nagar Parishad under the dynamic leadership of Mr. K. K Gupta, Chairman Nagar Parishad and Mr. Dilip Gupta, Municipal Commissioner has a zero-garbage vision for their city.

The project plans to use Stray Animal Cattle Dung, Bio-degradable MSW & Septic Tank Disposal waste (septage) to produce Bio-Energy through optimal utilization of locally available resources. The energy component includes a Biogas Digester, Supply of Electricity from Biogas Engine, and Thermal Energy through recovery of Biogas engine waste heat. The agricultural components include:

  • Supply of Organic Fertilizer (from digester effluent)
  • Facilitate establishment of feed lots for bovine animals (through ensilaging of forage crops/agricultural residues)
  • Facilitate farmers undertaking cultivation of organic vegetables (through supplying organic fertilizer and establishing cold chain infrastructure).

The project has been completed and uses a wide range of locally generated Biomass (Municipal Solid Waste, Septic waste, Agriculture, industrial residues and animal waste).
The project involves significant technological innovation as the Biogas plant, which aims at Zero Methane Emissions based on a combination of MSW/Cattle dung/Septic waste that is available in the city.
